Now a pullout from the style racks are gonna be a great way of transporting your bikes in a clean and nice looking way, as well as being super effective of not having any kind of movement on the rack as you are getting a lot of securance on there. The Sherpa does an excellent job with that. As you can see, we do have a nice ratcheting arm system on our wheel at the front. Zach: Hey guys, Zach here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium 2 Bike Platform-Style bike rack on our 2016 Volvo XC 90. This is going to be a really nice bike rack. One of my favorite things is the way that it holds the bike on, and that's the double wheel style, instead of a frame out or a single hook. A lot of the times those kind of have a set place on the trays and that's just where your bikes going to go.This style allows you to make some adjustments because a lot of times with platform racks, your handlebars will interfere with that second bike seat. So this allows us to move it back and forth, and as long as we're on that tray, we're good. So that we can move this around a little bit, make it a little bit easier to put that second bike on there without the contact.This one doesn't have the highest weight capacity for some other bike racks that you might be comparing it to. more

Now my personal favorite thing about this rack is that it's made from aluminum, so not only is it going to resist rust and corrosion, it's going to be incredibly lightweight and easy to handle. To give you an example, whenever we're not using it and we need to hook to a trailer, carry a cargo carrier, or just go for a little cleaner look, can easily take it off. And since it is compact, if you need to just put it in the back of your Volvo, you can do that, won't take up a whole lot of room.The rack is going to hold our bike down in three spots. We're going to have two straps here on the top tube and a third strap down here. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Volvo XC90 we're gonna be test-fitting the Yakima Ridgeback 4-bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches. Part number YO2458. We have a bike installed on the rack already, and let's go ahead and take a closer look here.Starting with the arms, at the ends we both have the patented Yakima bottle openers, so you can have a nice cold one after a long trail ride. The cradles are gonna be stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they are adequately spaced enough to fit the four bikes with ease.Also has this TPE cushioned padding here, and that's actually gonna help absorb some of the shock from your frame while traveling around and hitting those bumps on the road. It's also padded at the bottoms of our zip strips here, so that's a double protection for the frame of your bike while you travel, to keep any scratches from getting on it from loading it or traveling in general.It will grip your bike by three points. We'll have two zip strips up at the top, as well as one off to the side, and that's gonna serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike-to-bike contact. more

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2008 Volvo XC90- Video

Today on our 2008 Volvo XE-90, we'll be doing a test for the Kuat NV Platform Style Tilting 4-bike rack. That's part number N105-107. I've already got it loaded up on our XE-90, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's secures our bike. It secures our bike in two spots. We have this nice, big wheel-hook going over our front wheel, putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle. Then we have this rear-wheel strap going between our spokes and holding our rear wheel in place. All-in-all, there is no frame contact, so that's one of the really nice features. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volvo XC60- Video

Today on our 2013 Volvo XC60, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex Swing. This will be your hanging style 4-bike rack, part number TH9031XT. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here on the cradle arm so you can see what it's going to look like once it's fully assembled and in place on the back of your vehicle. This does come with a two-inch shank only and it will attach two-inch class receiver. Also, once you attach it to your receiver, it will be secured using a 3-1/4 inch anti-rattable that's going to help to reduce a lot of the sway, rattle and wobble that you would normally have in an ordinary bike rack. Let's start off using a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be from the frontside here to the backside of the bumper at about 4-1/4 inches. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volvo XC60 TH9029XT- Video

Today on our 2013 Volvo XC60 we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex. This is going to be your hanging style 4-bike rack, part number TH9029XT. AS you can see we've already got a bike up here in place so you can see what it's going to look like once it's fully installed and in place on the back of your vehicle. This does come with an inch and a quarter shank as well as the 2 inch adapter so we'll figure Class I, II and III receivers. Just keep in mind if you plan on carrying it with your Class I receiver so you'll only be able to carry up to 2 bikes, and that's per your hitch's weight specifications. With this Class III receiver that we have on here today it's going to attach using a 3/4 inch anti-rattle bolt and it's going to keep the sway, rattle and wobble to a very minimum. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it with a wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over few clearance measurements and see how the two fit together. We have about 10 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack and the closest part of the vehicle is about 5 inches away, and we'veadded about 11 inches to the overall length of our C70 with the cradle arms folded down. more

Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Volvo C70- Video

Today on our 2011 Volvo C70, we'll be test fitting the Thule Vertex hitch mounted four bike rack, part number TH9029. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch, and securing it with the anti-rattle bolt. With the bike rack secured to the vehicle, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about ten inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. We've added about seven inches to the overall length of our vehicle with the cradle arms pointing down. We can now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, we've added about thirty inches to the overall length of our vehicle. With the mast of the bike rack in it's upright position, we can have full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle. To be able to load larger cargo, we can pull the gray lever at the base of the bike rack, and tilt the mast downward. To load the bike, we'll make sure the mast is in it's upright position. We'll undo the cradle straps, place our bike into the frame cradles, and secure it with the straps. With our bike all loaded up, that'll complete today's test fit for the Thule Vertex four bike rack, part number TH9029, on our 2011 Volvo C70. more

Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Volvo C70- Video

Today on our 2011 Volvo C-70, we'll be test-fitting the Thule Helium Aero Hitch-mounted 2 Bike Rack, part number TH9042. We'll begin our test-fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch, and allowing the integrated hitch pin to fall into place. We can then turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device, securing the bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance to the rear of the bike rack, and with the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 13 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We can now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, we've added about 21-1/2 inches to the overall length of our C-70. Now with the bike rack in its upright position, we can have full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle. more

With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the 2 fit together. We have about 10-1/4 inch of ground clearance, and with the cradle arms down, we've added about 7 inches to the overall length of our C70. We can now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 30 inches to the overall length of our Volvo. With the mast in its upright position, you can access the rear hatch, or to be able to load larger cargo into your trunk, you can pull the gray lever at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

Then we can turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest point of the vehicle is about three-quarters of an inch away. Keep in mind, this measurement may vary due to the style of your hitch. We've added about three inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We can now pull the black pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more

Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Volvo XC70- Video

Today on our 2011 Volvo XC70 we'll be test fitting the Thule Doubletrack Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, product number TH990XT. This bike carrier is applicable for both 2-inch and 1-1/4 inch hitches. Our Volvo today is fitted with the 1-1/4 hitch and our bike rack is already preassembled so we're ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. We'll begin by inserting the bike rack shank into the hitch. We'll line up the hitch pin hole and go ahead and insert our anti-rattle bolt. Next, we'll go ahead and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt using our wrench. more
